Can I sue my landlord if they are using surveillance intended for the building to monitor my guest, against me?

  • If the cameras were there when you signed a lease agreement
    .
And they are intended as security only
    .
    No you can not
    .
Other wise you would of had to of been notified of them being put in and if you had any complaints to come to the office for a tenant meeting to talk about why they are being put in
    .
But to see a camera in an apartment building is a good crime deterrent
    .
City buses have them they are in schools
In Walmarts in all department stores
    .
Every where so you may have a hard time getting them to look as if they are an invasion of your personal privacy cause the hallways are every-bodies property
    .

  • How is he using it against you?
    What do the notes say?

  • That doesn't sound like grounds for a lawsuit. If you can be seen you can be recorded.

  • Need more info here. How are they using building surveillance against you?

  • if you knew there was surveillance, then no, probably not.

  • We definitely need more information here, but I doubt it would be illegal or anything you could sue for.

If you knew there was surveillance going on, what were you doing that could be used against you? Why would you assume that as a tenant, your bad actions would somehow never be used against you? Why would they monitor your guests - I assume for the purpose of having proof against them of wrongdoing - and not you?
