i was fired from a job about 7 months ago. situation is very iffy as to whether or not it was my fault. i have seen a few people from work over the past few months and have all said that i was not at fault. basically the owner screwed up a job, and a major client was pissed off, so someone had to take the fall and unfortunately i was the chosen victim. knowing the owner, there is no way he will ever admit to this. during the time i was there, i heard him give many negative reviews to other former employees, many of which i felt were fairly good workers, some of them i understood why they were fired some i did not. problem is that i had been at that job for over 5 years, ever since i graduated college, and now with the economy in the pits, i have to say that i have been fired from the only legitimate job experience that i ever had. i have got a new job, but am hoping to leave it due to it being triple the commute and about 3.72 less per hour. i have been at this new job for about 6 months now and feel that 6 months is enough time for that to be considered legitimate experience and can at least say that I have held down a job without incident since my firing. the other people that i earlier mentioned that agreed that the job was not my fault have said that they had no problem with me using them as references, so i feel that i can at least partially explain my situation, but still feel that my firing will be an issue and looking for any other suggestions to help explain it.It sucks but i think that every employer can understand cut-backs leading to lay-offs, if you just explain the situation vaguely without bad mouthing your previous job too much you should be alright. It also matters what your previous employer will say if they job reference them... that's where you might have an issue. Sorry I can't be of more help.just come out and say it and be done with it instead of keep holding on and trying to figure out what you are going to say.Being fired sucks but it happens as long as you depend on someone else to supply your income. Just tell the truth. Just do not say anything bad about the owner even though he probably deserves a little bashing.
