Could someone please tell me what's wrong with my sentence?

  • I was sitting around, procrastinating on my english paper, and I wanted to figure out how to say "I'm writing my paper."

My grammar is not up to par, but I thought I'd give it a shot anyway. Can anyone tell me what's wrong with my sentence?

    わたし の ろんぶん しっぴつ です.

I'm just trying to figure out if it's grammatically correct, if I'm missing any particles, etc.

    Thanks :D

p.s. Sorry for the lack of Kanji, I don't know enough characters yet.

  • わたし の ろんぶん しっぴつ です.

Assuming the ga after ronbun, this would mean, "my paper is a writing." You want a verb, but shippitsu is a noun. Then you have to change the verb into present progressive to mean "am writing."

  • I'm writing my paper.

---> Watashi wa sakubun o kaite imasu.

  • wooooo I was way off. Sonofagun.
