what did it feel like? sound like? how long did it last?
Did people realize immediately that there was an earthquake? if not what did they think it was?
was the earthquake magnitude reported? what scientific explanations were given?
how people felt? how they felt during after shock? after earthquake all together?
what people did during earthquake?
any injuries b/c of non duck and covers?Dear friend I do not know from which country you are. We felt the earthquake shaking 2 hours before Tsunami struck our India for a few seconds.But in my earthquake alarm and in our meteorological department recorded the seismic wave for an unbelievable time of 12 minutes.Even though my earthquake alarm was not calibrated to Richter scale because of long time warning signal and because that day was full moon day I issued the warning to local T.V stations to be ready to move to a safer place because the sea water may rise to a greater height.But they refused to believe my alert message. Our country lost the life of 10,000 people and the whole Asia lost the life of about 300,000. Our meteorological department reported first as 7.6 in Richter scale and later on it was revised as 8.6.But the united states geological department confirmed it as 9.3 in Richter scale after about 3 months.But when I issued the warning I said that I have recorded a major earthquake that I have never hear ed in the history of earthquakes.That earthquake responsible for the tsunami that killed hundreds of thousands of people was a 9.1 temblor that shook for up to 10 minutes. I'm sure there is no mistaking that kind of shaking with anything else. The strongest earthquake I've felt was the 6.6 Northridge earthquake, which was nothing compared to this one.
Now that area of Indonesia is not as populated as, say Jakarta the capital. The area is also not as developed. Any injuries because of non duck and cover?? Are you insane?!?!
